Students can schedule up to three confidential on-campus counseling appointments for immediate needs or to seek referrals for longer-term solutions. 

Avry Eichwald, MS

Avry Eichwald has been working in the mental health field for over 10 years. During this time he has focused on psycho-education and psychotherapy with healthcare professionals, bioethics, and social justice within the field of healthcare. Avry received his Bachelors in Social Services from Central Washington University in 2008, and a Master’s in Social Work from Portland State University 2013. Avry is a licensed clinical social worker, (LCSW), in the State of Washington and is currently employed with Virginia Mason Memorial Hospital’s Inpatient Psychiatric Unit. Avry serves as the elected chair of Virginia Mason Memorial’s Bio Ethics committee, a position he has held for the last 2 years. Avry also serves as a mental health professional for Virginia Mason’s Critical Incident Stress Management team, where he assists healthcare professionals process traumatic events related to providing healthcare.

Avry is passionate about working with medical professionals and enjoys discussing the clinical and ethical intersections of the healthcare industry. His goal is to help healthcare professionals find and/or maintain a connection to their passion for their chosen profession and then collaborate with the health care professional to discover skills to help them consistently be at their best.

Taylor Klein, MS

Taylor was born in Yakima and raised in the Terrace Heights/East Valley area. He went to school at Western Washington University, coming away with a business administration minor, BA in psychology, and MS in mental health counseling. He is a member of the American Counseling Association and is a Nationally Certified Counselor. Taylor met his wife, Katie, while they were still in high school and got married in 2012. After both attended graduate school at WWU, they decided to move back to Selah to be closer to family. Katie works as a speech-language pathologist at Children’s Village, while Taylor began his career at Comprehensive Healthcare. For two years, Taylor was the primary student/employee assistance program (EAP/SAP) therapist at Comprehensive, helping both PNWU students and employees with various issues.

In February 2017, Taylor started working for a group private practice in Yakima named the Center for Counseling and Psychotherapy. He sees teenagers and adults through individual, couples, family, and group therapy. He specializes in couples therapy, PTSD, men’s issues, and various group therapy. He also has extensive training in treating depression, anxiety, stress, and academic issues. In his free time, Taylor likes to hang out with family, ride his bike, play sports, go boating, travel, play piano, and make others laugh.
