State-of-the-Art Facilities

All existing and planned academic teaching spaces on campus and at the SDM community clinics will contain state-of-the-art presentation resources, including projectors, LCD monitors, speakers, and whiteboards.

The existing PNWU Gross Anatomy Lab is being renovated to permit the addition of the DMD students to the class with the medical and physical therapy students.

Construction will be completed in the summer of 2023 on the space D1 students will use during patient simulation and interprofessional education. Construction begins in the early fall of 2023 on the SDM simulation lab facilities. This space includes the dental simulation lab, wet support lab, dry/digital support lab, virtual reality lab, lab dispensary, operations/repair space, and storage space. This space will include large lecture rooms, small learning spaces, study/huddle rooms, and offices for faculty and staff.

In early 2024, construction will begin on our three community-based clinics in Yakima, Kennewick, and Tacoma. Each community clinic is designed and constructed to have identical facilities and equipment. The only exception is that the Yakima clinic will not have on-site simulation and VR facilities. The Yakima clinic is about 0.5 miles from the main campus, and the students who need access to these resources during class time will come to the main campus. The curriculum will provide time to allow for the short drive/walk to and from the main campus. Each of the clinics will have dental chairs, a wet lab, a dry/digital lab, a reception area and waiting room, a sterilization area, radiology rooms, faculty workstations, lecture rooms, a simulation lab space (Kennewick and Tacoma), a virtual reality lab (Kennewick and Tacoma), offices for faculty and the clinic coordinator, a student locker room, and a break room.

The PNWU Library advances university engagement with biomedical literature resources to support education, research, and clinical practice. Available resources include online databases, digital health sciences tools, print and electronic books and journals, and anatomical models. Library staff members provide reference services, evidence-based literature class sessions, in-depth research assistance, copyright coaching, database orientations, and interlibrary loans.
