COM Graduation Requirements

Participation in commencement is required for all who are eligible, so it is important to make sure everything below is complete. Final responsibility for meeting degree requirements and Self-Service Checklist deadlines resides with the student.

Commencement Participation Requirements

The following items are required to participate in commencement. Your academic requirements will be reviewed to determine your eligibility to participate in the May commencement ceremony. Any information needed, the Registrar’s Office will communicate directly with you via your PNWU email or the phone number on record.

The Registrar’s Office will conduct a full academic assessment upon request. If you would like an academic assessment done of the remaining curriculum, email registrar@pnwu.edu.

Please continue to review your academic plan and unofficial transcripts in your Self-Service portal, and monitor your rotation schedule in E*Value for any missing or inaccurate courses prior to submitting your Graduation Application. If any questions arise, email registrar@pnwu.edu.


If you have completed the following requirements you will be eligible to participate in the May commencement ceremony.

• Completed all first and second year course requirements.

• Completed 44 credits of clinical rotations by March 1, prior to May commencement ceremony, and has a documented academic plan to complete all required rotations by December 31 of graduation year.

• Passed COMLEX Level 2CE by May 1, prior to May commencement ceremony.

Self-Service Checklist (Graduation Requirements)

ALL checklist items are required before we are able to award your degree and mail your diploma. The Registrar’s Office will begin awarding degrees the week after the commencement ceremony, and diplomas will be sent the following week (2 weeks after commencement).


Complete graduation application by March 1

  • The deadlines has passed for 2024. Questions can be directed to the Registrar’s Office at registrar@pnwu.edu

Add diploma mailing address in Self-Service prior to May 1

  • Whether you would like to use your current address or a different address, please complete this item regardless
  • Graduates will receive a printed version and a CeDiploma (electronic version) after all degree and graduation requirements are completed successfully
    • Printed diplomas will be mailed to the diploma address provided in Self-Service, and can take up to eight weeks to receive after mailed
    • CeDiplomas will be delivered to your PNWU email
  • Login to Self-Service portal > hover over your name in top right corner of screen > select Profile > select the Address tab > click Blue Plus sign > first field, select Diploma Address > complete form and SAVE

Order Regalia

  • Regalia is required, must have gown, hood, and tam (cap)
  • You can connect with previous PNWU graduates if they are willing to sell or allow you to borrow their regalia
  • Link to place order, click the Graduation Home link under Quick links, and will be under Prepare for Commencement section.

Formal Clinical Presentation

  • Your Regional Assistant Dean will complete the evaluation for your formal clinical presentation in E*Value
  • Clinical Education will compile a report of completed presentations and Registrar will update to be reflected in your Academic Plan in your Self-Service portal, under the Registration link

Review with Regional Assistant Dean

  • Your Regional Assistant Dean will complete the evaluation for your review in E*Value 
  • Clinical Education will compile a report of completed reviews and Registrar will update the student’s Checklist on Self-Service

Complete the AACOM Graduating Student Survey

  • You will receive an email with a link to the survey in April. Your response is important for developing public policy on financing medical education
  • Individual responses are confidential, the data is used for research purposes
  • Registrar will receive a list of completed surveys and update the student’s Checklist in Self-Service

Complete Federal Student Loan Exit Counseling

  • This online session is required by the Federal government for those who took out federal student financial aid
  • Financial Aid will receive a list of completed counseling and Registrar will update the student’s Checklist in Self-Service
  • PNWU Financial Aid is always available for questions and counseling regarding your loan debt. A PNWU specific group presentation will be held during the events on the Friday before graduation.

Financial Obligations

  • Pay any outstanding charges on your student account using the Make Payment button on the Finances tab of Self-Service
  • This item will be cleared the week after commencement.

Attend Commencement Ceremony

PNWU Graduation Survey (optional)

  • Survey will be available in June.

Friday & Saturday Event Schedule

Friday and Saturday events are required for those who meet the above criteria. Questions can be directed to registrar@pnwu.edu.

Saturday, May 18, 2024 @ 3:00 pm
All ceremonies will be held at the Capitol Theatre in downtown Yakima, WA (19 S 3rd St). Visit the PNWU Commencement Day Details website for additional information.

  • The May Commencement Ceremony is required for those who are eligible to participate. Questions can be directed to registrar@pnwu.edu.
  • Professional attire- you will be standing, walking in and outdoors, and climbing steps so wear sensible shoes.
  • Graduates and Guest Hooders should arrive to the venue on Saturday one hour prior to ceremony start time to check-in. Use the 4th street entrance (back stage door) of the Capitol Theatre.
  • Graduates and Guest Hooders should have their steamed, wrinkle free graduation regalia with them (gown, tam (cap), and tassel)
  • After the ceremony graduates, family, and friends are invited to gather outside the front entrance of the Capitol Theatre for photos and celebration.
  • Guest Hooders who rented regalia should locate the regalia return booth in front of the Capitol Theatre.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

After Commencement
• It is very important to continue checking your PNWU email in the case we need to communicate with you about your graduation requirements.
• Degrees will begin to be awarded the week after commencement
• Diplomas will begin to be sent 2 weeks after commencement
• Verification forms requiring a degree verification will be completed and sent after degrees are awarded. You may email your verification form to registrar@pnwu.edu
• Transcripts that require a degree posted, can be requested now from the PNWU Student Forms website, under the Student Records section. Please select the “After Degree is Posted” option.
