The PNWU Research Exchange follows the tradition of research communities of practice. It is a forum for researchers to:

- Provide opportunities to share ideas and receive feedback
- Learn topically and methodologically
- Problem-solve collectively
Research Exchange meetings may consist of:
- Regular monthly meetings with rotating leadership
- Presentations of work, proposed projects, or opportunities
- Journal club-like discussions of key publications
- Methodological learning and discussions
- Team development and joint efforts on projects
- Involvement of key partners from local communities
The Research Exchange is not intended to be:
- Exclusionary to anyone
- A limitation to anyone’s work
- Agenda-setting
- Expectation-raising
- Required for anyone
