PNWU OMS II Sam Billingslea Named Western U.S. Junior Officer of the Year

Recently, PNWU second-year osteopathic medical student Samuel Billingslea was named as the Western US Junior Officer of the Year award at the Annual Meeting of the Association of Osteopathic Military Physicians & Surgeons (AMOPS) in Orlando, Florida. During the meeting, he was also elected Western Representative for the National Student Association of Military Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons Board.

The award was presented by American Osteopathic Association (AOA) President William S. Mayo, DO (pictured above) who, much like Billingslea, once served as an Officer in the United States Navy and Navy HPSP recipient.

"I am incredibly humbled and honored to have received this award," said Billingslea. "The accomplishments that stand behind it were only achieved through the exceptional teamwork of the PNWU Student Association of Military and Osteopathic Physicians (SAMOPS) club. I am exceedingly grateful for the support our club was given this year by the PNWU administration, student body and the Yakima community."
