Frigid arctic fronts blanketed Denver in unexpected late-October snow this past week. For a group of PNWU students attending the 2019 American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) Scientific Assembly 2019, the surprising weather seemed a perfect analogy for the unpredictable challenges they hope to one day face as emergency physicians.
The assembly, which was held from October 27-30 at The Colorado Convention Center, offered the osteopathic medical students an opportunity to mingle with residents and program directors, gain insight into the application process from emergency medicine intern panels, and even participate in committee meetings for individual interests as it relates to emergency medicine.
“I loved meeting all the residents and physicians at the skills labs who were so enthusiastic about teaching,” said Ashley Pennington, OMS III. “It helped to refresh my interest in the specialty through the grind of third year and reaffirm why emergency medicine is definitely the specialty for me!”
