The U.S. Pain Foundation recently appointed Dr. Edward Bilsky, PNWU Provost, to its Board of Directors. Prior to the appointment, Dr. Bilsky had worked for over 5 years with the nonprofit foundation, which serves as the leading patient-run group for the 50 million Americans who live with chronic pain.
“It is an honor to be asked by a group such as the U.S. Pain Foundation to join their board,” said Bilsky. “I have admired the work that Nicole Hemmenway [CEO of the foundation] has done with the pain ambassadors and the broader membership. My past work with them has been very positive and I feel as if I have made positive contributions on both the education side of the foundation and in helping them with advocacy efforts.”
In his new role, Dr. Bilsky plans to help the foundation with strategic planning and larger initiatives that align with their mission of empowering, educating, connecting, and advocating for individuals living with chronic illness that causes pain, as well as their caregivers and clinicians. He also plans to explore opportunities regarding PNWU involvement in the foundation as he advocates for programs targeting rural and underserved populations and communities. “Student involvement will be a plus,” he said.
