Interns and residents in PNWU-affiliated residency programs may request access to a limited set of PNWU’s licensed databases. Please refer to Accessing Licensed Electronic Resources for more information and to request a login. Permissions are limited by our vendor agreements, and are subject to change without notice. Accounts expire at the end of your residency.
Once your PNWU login has been created, you can access the approved databases through our proxy server. Please make sure you follow the instructions sent by PNWU Technology Services to create a secure password before you attempt to log in to licensed resources.
Note: the PubMed@PNWU link will not work with your resident login. You can access many full text articles when you search directly in MEDLINE Complete or CINAHL Complete. You can also search with pubmed.gov and order by email (see below). If you don’t have a PNWU login, you can still order articles through PNWU Library, provided your affiliated resident status can be verified.
Our Library Search tool is accessible to all users, but links to full-text articles may be blocked due to site license restrictions. For best results, please use the links to resources listed below.
eResources for Residents and Interns
PubMed: A free resource from NCBI comprising over 26 million citations from biomedical literature indexed in MEDLINE, life science journals, and online books. Adjunct clinical faculty members should use PubMed or MEDLINE Complete instead of PubMed@PNWU.
MEDLINE Complete: Provides the full text of over 2100 journals indexed in MEDLINE
CINAHL Complete: Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature
DynaMed Plus: An evidence-based point-of-care resource for clinicians
How to Order an Article: Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery
If you are not affiliated with a hospital that offers library services, PNWU Library can provide you with journal articles through document delivery or interlibrary loan. Articles indexed in PubMed can be requested by emailing the citation and PMID number to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please see Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery for more details. Items that are not indexed in PubMed can be ordered using our Document Delivery/Interlibrary Loan Request Form. Incomplete citations may be returned to you for more information, or may take longer to process.
Reference Services and Library Instruction
Reference service is available by phone, email, or in person. Library staff are available to answer your reference questions, provide instruction in database searching, or provide mediated literature searches. Literature search results will be delivered to you via email. Please use the Literature Search Request Form.
Circulating books may be checked out for two weeks; reserve books for 24 hours. Journals and reference books may be used in the library only. Please show your photo ID and identify yourself as a PNWU affiliated resident when checking out materials.
