Graduate Medical Education

Pacific Northwest University's College of Osteopathic Medicine (PNWU-COM) actively identifies opportunities for development and expansion of graduate medical education (GME) throughout the Pacific Northwest.

PNWU-COM Office of Graduate Medical Education supports residency programs, sponsoring institutions and rural training tracks primarily in the PNWU-COM six-state region of WA, WY, AK, MT, ID, and OR. The Office of Graduate Medical Education assists these programs with Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requirements, osteopathic recognition, scholarly activity, program director development and more. Through collaborations with WWAMI Family Medicine Residency Network, the Rural Training Track Collaborative, and other regional institutions/networks, the Office of GME works to establish, maintain and grow residency placement opportunities for PNWU-COM students as well as provide a continuum of medical education that promotes osteopathic principles and practice for UGME and GME. The Office of GME develops and delivers osteopathic workshops in the region and facilitates continuing medical education (CME) credits for applicable residency program activities.

Students: The Office of Graduate Medical Education works with Student Affairs and the Clinical Education Team to assist students with residency planning.  Have a residency question? Talk with us at Residency Talk Tuesdays in the BHH Foyer at lunchtime. Find out more on the Residency Inquiry page. Mark  your calendars and RSVP for the PNWU Residency Fair, April 10, 2020.

^Osteopathic Recognition

PNWU/FMRN Collaboration

In 2015 Pacific Northwest University and the WWAMI Family Medicine Residency Network (FMRN) formed a collaborative to assist regional family medicine residencies with ACGME osteopathic recognition and support AOA programs with the single accreditation process. FMRN is a network of 33 family medicine residencies spanning 5 states. The Network is one of the largest residency networks in the United States.

Osteopathic Workshops

PNWU/FMRN offers several Osteopathic workshops for residency faculty, program directors and residents. These workshops are presented at residency sites across the region in an effort to increase awareness and interest in Osteopathic medicine and help programs with osteopathic recognition.
