Fitness/recreation areas available in the region:
Summit Fitness Center memberships are available at a reduced price.  Glacier National Park, Whitefish Ski Resort; lakes, rivers, hiking, biking galore.

Housing can be difficult if you are bringing a pet.  Best places to look are on craigslist and the Daily Interlake newspaper.

Length of time region has been training with PNWU students:
Kalispell has been training with students since July 2016.

Preceptor/Rotation Information

4th year electives that have been successful in this region depending on availability:   
Elective rotations are available throughout Western MT (e.g., Libby, Missoula, Kalispell, Butte, and Dillon), however are most easily obtained in Kalispell.

  • Pediatric Specialties
  • Neurology
  • Gastroenterology
  • Anesthesiology

Didactics Information

Didactic Information:
Didactics are held in conjunction with the Family Medicine Residency of Western Montana's weekly didactics. They are Wednesday afternoons 1-5pm (or later) at Flathead Community Health Center in Kalispell.  Some live speakers, mostly via live feed from Missoula.  PNWU-specific didactics are held Wednesday 12-1 at the Kalispell Regional Medical Center campus.

Other learning opportunities in addition to PNWU didactics include:

Region strengths:
Excellent preceptors, RAD and RSA that are engaged with the students, RAD/RSA to student ratio, strong residency involvement and support, OMM in didactics monthly.   

Why might a student choose this region over another?
Very enthusiastic preceptors at this growing medical facility look forward to working with students and residents alike. There are a lot of forward thinkers looking to implement progressive approaches in their care, including Team Care and Integrative Behavioral Health. The administration at Kalispell Regional Medical Center is very supportive of hosting PNWU students.
