Dr. Gary Pape brings to his position as Director of Faculty Development at the School of Dental Medicine, a variety of experiences and training. His work career began in the mental health field, working as a counselor at Northwestern University Institute of Psychiatry. While there he earned a master’s degree in clinical psychology from Roosevelt University in Chicago. In his early 30’s he changed directions and entered the field of dentistry. He earned his DDS from Northwestern University Dental School and went on to practice for 22 years in general dentistry, the last 15 years in Wenatchee, Washington. His direction changed again to academia, and he taught at Western University of Health Science College of Dental Medicine in Pomona, California. While there, he earned a master’s degree in education from the University of the Pacific. After 9 years at Western University, he moved back to Washington and is excited to have joined the team at Pacific Northwest University.
