Dr. Derek Gerber is the Dean for the School of Physical Therapy at Pacific Northwest University. Prior to PNWU, Dr. Gerber served as the Director of the School of Physical Therapy Athletic Training at Pacific University and Director of the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Idaho State University.
Dr. Gerber received his physical therapy training through the Army as a graduate of the US Army-Baylor University physical therapy program. He served in the Army for eight years as a physical therapist, then practiced in the civilian sector prior to entering academia at Idaho State University. It was at Idaho State University that he obtained his Doctor of Educational Leadership with an emphasis in Higher Education Administration.
In the physical therapy profession, Dr. Gerber is Board Certified in Orthopedic Physical Therapy. He served as the President of APTA Idaho for 6 years and led successful efforts to add Dry Needling to the Idaho Practice Act.
