Lance Dunlop MD

Assistant Dean for Clinical Education

Lance Dunlop, M.D. is a graduate of the Perelman University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.  He completed his residency in general psychiatry and fellowship in child & adolescent psychiatry at Rutgers University.  Prior to his medical education, Dr. Dunlop graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a BA degree in psychology, history and Asian & Middle Eastern studies, and an MA degree in history with an emphasis in Middle Eastern history focused on early Arab-Israeli diplomatic history from the period of 1947 through 1949.  He has broad experience in adult psychiatry, child & adolescent psychiatry, and addiction medicine.

Dr. Dunlop lived in Alaska as a child but moved out of state and completed his education in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.  He is a Major in the United States Army Reserve, and he returned to the 49th State with Foundation Health Partners to fulfill a dream of raising his youngest son in Fairbanks, Alaska, where he first became a part of the PNWU family as an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor.   Dr. Dunlop enjoys being a part of a multidisciplinary team that provides timely care to people of all ages, and he is passionate about teaching and learning to become a better teacher and physician.  Dr. Dunlop believes that student doctors are integral to the health care team in providing outstanding treatment, and that a vibrant and diverse medical student class can teach physicians and faculty as much if not more than we teach medical students.

He is incredibly grateful to both military veterans and active-duty personnel, and their families, for their service in keeping our communities safe and secure.  He is passionate about collaborating with community partners to increase services to underserved communities.  Dr. Dunlop enjoys spending time with his young adult children who are enrolled in college and spending time with his youngest son who is enrolled in the Cub Scouts.  He loves teaching medical students and pursuing the educational and research opportunities afforded to faculty at PNWU.  He loves to ski and hike around the great state of Alaska.
