Student Core Didactic IPE Session: Collaborative Clinical Case Conference (C4)

Emphasizing Teams & Teamwork for Interprofessional Collaborative Practice

The Collaborative Clinical Case Conference (C4) is an Interprofessional Education (IPE) learning opportunity that includes multiple health professions training programs that participate in the Yakima Valley Interprofessional Practice and Education Collaborative (YVIPEC).

Students will be assigned to an interprofessional team of learners to work through a complex patient case. As a team, you will work together to identify and prioritize a patient’s problem list and work collaboratively to develop an interprofessional care plan. Each team will have an opportunity to interview a simulated patient to collect additional information. The team will complete a worksheet to describe the care plan, which will then be presented to the large group at the end of the session.  Facilitators will lead a session debrief that includes a discussion of the IPEC Core Competency – Teams & Teamwork.

LEARNERS COMPLETING THIS SESSION WILL BE ABLE TO:

  1. Describe the roles and practices of effective teams.
  1. Engage in team-based person-, family-, community-, and population-centered problem-solving.
  1. Manage disagreements that arise within the health care team including the clients/patients, families, and community members.
  1. Demonstrate the elements of team performance.
