On Friday, April 4, PNWU will host our annual Residency Fair. Set to take place from noon to 2 p.m. in the Grand Foyer of Butler-Haney Hall, this year’s event will welcome over 25 residency programs from across the region, providing students with an invaluable opportunity to connect with program directors, faculty, and current residents. Free lunch will be available for students.
Classes will be paused to allow PNWU students to meet with representatives from a variety of family medicine, internal medicine, and pediatric residency programs. Attendees will gain insights into critical aspects of residency life, including work/life balance, call schedules, and day-to-day experiences from residents and faculty members.
The annual Residency Fair serves as a pivotal networking opportunity for PNWU students, explained Michelle Chadek, MS, Director of Graduate Medical Education (GME).
“Personal connections matter, and programs remember our students,” said Chadek. One year a student met a Program Director at that Residency Fair and they had an impactful conversation. That Program Director turned out to be interviewing her a few years later during the residency application process! The Program Director remembered the student, which immediately put her more at ease for interviewing and helped her stand out. The interaction ultimately led to her successfully matching into that program!
