PNWU Hosts Mini Med School

This past weekend, PNWU hosted our annual Mini Med School.

The free family event welcomed community members to our health sciences campus to learn about the human body, our assortment of programs, and the importance of being healthy.  Featuring activities for kindergarten through middle school-aged students, Mini Med School also featured food trucks, a scavenger hunt, and even a “graduation station.”

Attending the annual event for a third time, PNWU Administrative Specialist Mary Baker was proud to answer her grandchildren’s yearly request: “Can we go again this year!?”

“Can we go again this year!?”

“Our youngest is two and our oldest is almost seven, and there were activities that appealed to all of them,” said Baker. “I really appreciate that there are different stations each year,” she added, noting a standout addition to this year’s festivities: the PNWU Mini Med School Graduation Station.

As participants finished the program, they were draped with a white coat and announced overhead as graduates, with all in attendance applauding and snapping photos of their proud moment.

“The graduation station was brilliant,” said Student Affairs Administrative Assistant Karen Garza. “The kids smiled big with their white coats, getting a picture taken and names being called out over the loudspeaker. I hope this gets bigger and bigger with each year.”
