Pair of PNWU Student Docs Awarded NWOMF Scholarships

PNWU was well-represented during the Northwest Osteopathic Medical Foundation’s (NWOMF’s) recent scholarship celebration. PNWU Student Doctors Remy Arnot and Gabriel Saez were each selected to receive NWOMF scholarships, with St. Dr. Arnot awarded the organization’s Diversity Scholarship to Support LGBTQ+ Healthcare, and St. Dr. Saez awarded both the Scholarship to Support Medical Students from Historically Underrepresented Groups and the Washington Osteopathic Foundation Scholarship.

The newly established Diversity Scholarship to Support LGBTQ+ Healthcare, which honors the Foundation’s thirty-fifth anniversary, was awarded to St. Dr. Arnot as a reflection of her demonstrated commitment to helping improve healthcare outcomes through patient care in the LGBTQ+ community.

“Scholarships like NWOMF’s put students like me in position to enact PNWU’s mission,” explained Student Doctor Arnot, OMS IV. “I am proud to have received the first NWOMF scholarship dedicated to this cause, and I am determined to put this to good work.”

St. Dr. Saez’s was selected for the Scholarship to Support Medical Students from Historically Underrepresented Groups thanks to his demonstrated commitment to helping improve healthcare outcomes through patient care for people of color, and for the Washington Osteopathic Foundation Scholarship as a student from, and dedicated to returning to, Washington.

“My passion for caring for those in Washington State has a lot to do with my desire to give back to the community that has done so much for me and family,” explained Student Doctor Saez, OMS IV. “The Washington Osteopathic Foundation Scholarship supports the journey of osteopathic medical students like me, who have significant ties and motivation to practice in the Pacific Northwest.”

The NWOMF’s scholarship program serves to help defray some of the cost of osteopathic medical school tuition and has awarded over 580 scholarships in support of students from the Northwest since its founding in 1986.

“I’m so very proud of these outstanding Student Doctors, and the PNWU team that supports them,” said Dr. Michael Lawler, president of PNWU.
