Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund
Background
The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) has provided emergency funding to institutions of higher education and their students during the Coronavirus pandemic. HEERF funding was split up into 3 programs, HEERF I (also known as the CARES Act), HEERF II (CRRSAA Act), and HEERF III. HEERF III is the American Rescue Plan (ARP). Additional funds for HEERF III were provided by the Supplemental Support under the American Rescue Plan (SSARP) Program.
Current Status
In July 2022, PNWU was awarded $166,151.00 from the Supplemental Support Under The American Rescue Plan (SSARP) Program. Funds were to be used for emergency financial aid grants to students. Funding began in July 2022 and concluded in September 2022.
As of October 7, 2022, $0.00 is available to be disbursed to students.

Previous HEERF Award History
HEERF I is called the CARES Act (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act). PNWU was awarded $166,437 through HEERF I, also known as the CARES Act. A total of $83,219 was designated for student emergency funds and $83,219 for institutional emergency funds. As of March 31, 2021, a total of 534 students have received an emergency financial aid grant under Section 18004(a)(1) and 18004(c). It is estimated that a total of 583 students were eligible to participate under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 as of March 31, 2021.
HEERF II is called the CRRSAA (Coronavirus Response & Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act). PNWU was awarded $83,219 in the student portion of HEERF II (CRRSAA) funds. As of May 2021, 115 awards were distributed to students for a total of $83,219.
HEERF III, the American Rescue Plan (ARP), awarded PNWU $196,004 for student emergency funds. As of July 7, 2022, 233 awards were distributed to students for a total of $196,004.
