For the 2023-2024 Academic Year, PNWU will be paying eligible preceptors who precept eligible rotations $500 per student per week.
Who Is Eligible to Receive the Stipend?
- Credentialed Clinical Faculty who precept Core Rotations. Rank assignments eligible for the stipend include:
- Assistant Clinical Professor,
- Associate Clinical Professor,
- Clinical Professor.
- Clinical Faculty must have completed the student evaluation to receive the stipend for the rotation. The evaluation must be returned to PNWU’s Clinical Education Department in 90 days or less to be eligible for the stipend.
What Rotations are Core Rotations?
Core Rotations are traditionally rotations done in the 3rd year clerkship. The rotations are typically 4-6 weeks in length. Core rotations must have a Credentialed Clinical Faculty as the preceptor of record. Core rotations are done in the following specialties:
- Family Medicine
- General Internal Medicine
- General Surgery
- Primary Pediatrics
- Emergency Medicine
- Women’s Health
- Behavioral Health
- Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine
- Primary Care Core
Are Elective Rotations Eligible for the Stipend?
No. PNWU is not able to provide a stipend for Elective Rotations.
Elective rotations are rotations selected by medical students in their 4th year clerkship. Elective rotations are designed to aid 4th year students in expanding clinical knowledge, identifying specialties of interest, and aiding in residency placement.
How Often are Preceptor Payments Issued?
Following completion of the rotation and receipt of the student evaluation (within 90 days of end of rotation) the information on the length of the rotation and number of students is gathered and approved. The information is sent to Accounts Payable on a monthly basis. Accounts payable can be extremely busy and may take several weeks to send the stipend. Most stipends are sent within 30 days of the request. If you have not received a payment within 60 days of completing the student evaluation, please contact rotations@pnwu.edu.
