Timely Warning and Emergency Notification Policy

Policy
In accordance with the Jeanne Clery Act, Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences will inform members of the campus about crimes and emergencies that have occurred or may impact the campus community. 
 
PNWU sends timely warnings in a manner that is timely and that withholds as confidential the names and other identifying information of victims, as defined in section 40002(a)(20) of the Violence Against Women Act of 1994 (42 U.S.C. 13925 (a)(20)), and that will aid in the prevention of similar crimes. PNWU reports to the campus community on the following crimes: 

  • Criminal homicide: Murder and non-negligent manslaughter; and manslaughter by negligence 
  • Sexual offenses: Rape, Fondling, Incest, Statutory rape 
  • Robbery 
  • Aggravated assault 
  • Burglary 
  • Motor vehicle theft 
  • Arson 
  • Arrests and referrals for disciplinary actions, including arrests for liquor law violations, drug law violations, and  weapons law violations. Referrals for campus disciplinary action for liquor law violations, drug law violations, and  weapons law violations. 
  • Hate crimes, including larceny-theft, simple assault, intimidation, destruction/damage/vandalism of property 
  • Dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking 

PNWU also makes timely warnings of other crimes and emergencies considered by the University to represent a threat to students and employees. 

If there is an immediate threat to the health or safety of students or employees occurring on campus, PNWU will follow its emergency notification procedures as outlined in the Emergency Operations Plan.

  • Armed/Active Shooter 
  • Bomb Threat 
  • Catastrophic Earthquake 
  • Flooding 
  • Hanford Radiation Leakage or Explosion 
  • Hazardous Materials Release 
  • Inclement Weather 
  • IT Systems Failure 
  • Major Fire/Explosion 
  • Utility Outage 
  • Volcanic Eruption 
  • Wildfire/Brushfire 
  • Public Health Emergency
