Policy:  
PNWU consciously considers and works to embed diversity, inclusion, and equity into its mission driven activities to foster and sustain an affirming environment where each member of the community and can succeed. In adherence to mission, PNWU specifically works to enable individuals, groups, and practices that reflect the particular differences and challenges associated with rural and medically underserved communities of the Northwest.  

Definitions: 
Diversityis individual differences (e.g., personality, learning styles, and life experiences) and group/social differences (e.g., race/ethnicity, class, gender, sexual orientation, country of origin, and ability as well as cultural, political, religious, or other affiliations). 

Inclusionis the active, intentional, and ongoing engagement with diversity in the curriculum, co-curriculum, and communities (intellectual, social, cultural, geographical) with which individuals might connect. 

Equityis meeting particular and specific needs through a range of different or more flexible ways in order to ensure genuine equality of access or opportunity for groups and individual who approach those services from a position of persistent and longstanding disadvantage.
