Rod’s House

PNWU has developed a partnership for volunteer opportunities with Rod’s House in Yakima.  Students interested in volunteering will complete a JotForm for approval through Student Affairs, as well as a mandatory training with Rod’s House. Training involves Naloxone education, trauma informed care education, and just an overall briefing on what Rod’s house is and how PNWU Students are helping.

Rod’s House itself provides a huge array of services to youth experiencing homelessness. From providing food and clothing, to emergency winter shelters as well as social services to help young adults achieve their goals. PNWU students are providing a helping hand, whether that be checking in young adults into the emergency shelter or gathering food, clothes and necessities for young adults accessing the resource center. Student volunteers also play a large role helping with donation intake and organization. As we get more active in our role at Rod’s House, students will have the opportunity to help with outreach as well as plan classes or activities to do with some of the youth accessing the resources at their shelters.

Rod’s House Mission: Rod’s House builds authentic connections with young people, supports them in feeling respected and secure in who they are, empowers them to reach their full potential, and positively connects them to the community.
