Simulation Center

The PNWU Simulation Center is located in the MultiCare Learning Center (MLC) on PNWU’s main campus in Yakima, Washington.

The center offers simulated experiential learning via task training, virtual reality training, and high-fidelity scenarios using patient mannikins, trained simulated actors, and a range of specialized medical simulation equipment.

At the PNWU Simulation Center, we strive for excellence in the design and delivery of simulation activities to address client needs, in alignment to industry standards. The main goal of the Simulation Center is to improve safety within patient care. Current and future health care professionals can practice on task trainers, simulated mannequins, and simulated patients to hone their skills, refine advanced techniques, and learn valuable social interactive tools for delivering important news to patients. This translational research becomes vital for creating the gold-standard in patient safety and medical teaching. Here at PNWU we have an amazing and dedicated team that works towards mutual success in every simulation event.

The simulation center brings expertise in simulation activity development and delivery according to industry standards of best practice. Our priority is to operate within our expertise in collaboration with subject matter experts to ensure alignment with standards of best practice. Areas of expertise related to simulation design and delivery include needs assessment, material development (case script, assessment tools, training materials, briefing documents, etc.), activity logistics and flow, modality selection, debriefing strategies, feedback, evaluation, and process improvement.

Our continuous efforts focus on centralizing simulation activity operations to maximize collaborative opportunities and improve operational efficiencies while maintaining a quality experience for all participants.
