Curriculum Committee

About this Committee

The NIHC Curriculum Committee is dedicated to the development and implementation of interprofessional educational programs for students and faculty that reflect the core competencies adopted by the Collaborative. These programs are designed to foster a culture of collaboration both on campus and within the broader community, preparing students, faculty, and preceptors for effective interprofessional practice and team-based care in clinical and service-learning environments.

The committee ensures that faculty are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and behaviors necessary to support student achievement of the NIHC core competencies in both classroom and clinical settings. It also works to align curricular content, learning objectives, and performance outcomes across institutional partners with the NIHC’s adopted competencies, in accordance with accreditation standards and national trends.

In addition to curriculum development, the committee evaluates proposals for interprofessional educational events and activities, ensuring they align with the Collaborative’s core competencies. It conducts regular reviews of the student and faculty development curriculum to maintain relevance, effectiveness, and alignment with current needs and desired learning outcomes.

The committee also serves as a liaison to local, regional, and national interprofessional education (IPE) initiatives, representing the NIHC in broader conversations about faculty and student development. A key goal is to promote the integration of interprofessional education across institutional partner programs into a unified, collaborative approach with shared goals and coordinated delivery.

Assessment Sub-Working Group

Operating under the Curriculum Committee, the Assessment Sub-Working Group is responsible for evaluating and enhancing the assessment strategies and tools used within NIHC educational programs. This group ensures that all assessment practices are aligned with institutional learning objectives and outcomes, particularly those based on the IPEC core competencies.
