Dr. McCarroll is responsible for the Office of Scholarly Activity, operating under the Office of the President. As the CRO, she interacts with administration, faculty, staff, and students in a variety of settings integral to the planning, execution and monitoring of scholarly activities.
A native of Dayton, OH, Dr. McCarroll comes to PNWU from Summa Health in Akron, OH as the women’s health research director in the Summa Center for Women’s Health Research (SCWHR). Under Dr. McCarroll’s leadership, SCWHR involved a diverse team of internal and external partnerships of physicians, healthcare providers, medical students, and academic researchers to advance clinical research in the areas of population health, cancer, obstetrical and surgical safety, and health disparities. Over Dr. McCarroll’s career, she’s held academic appointments in the College of Arts and Science at the University of Akron; College of Medicine at Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED); College of Health and Human Services, Youngstown State University, and the School of Public Health and Health Professions at the University at Buffalo, State University of New York. She is a Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP®) from the Society of Clinical Research Associates (SOCRA), Certified Clinical Exercise Specialist (ACSM-CES®) from the American College of Sports Medicine, and Fellow of the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (FAACVPR). Dr. McCarroll has published scores of abstracts, manuscripts, book chapters, and eBooks and is a frequent presenter at local and national scientific conferences. With an interest in patient-centered outcomes, one of Dr. McCarroll’s most notable accomplishments included over $500,000 in government funding to implement group visits (Centering®) to reduce pre-term labor and infant mortality in high-risk and at-risk populations such as opiate addicted, African-American, gestational diabetic, and refugee women. She is well recognized for her stellar contribution and impact to the Greater Akron Ohio Region in the healthcare industry. Recently, Dr. McCarroll was presented with the Virgil E. Collins Diversity Award that recognizes an individual for their leadership excellence in the advancement of diversity, social justice, equality, and inclusion; along with a passion for instilling the value of diversity in others.
