Associate Professor of Biomedical Sciences
Dr. Lyons earned a degree in Biochemistry in 1998 and subsequently went on to receive a PhD in Biochemistry from University of College Cork, Ireland in 2003. Following his PhD, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher in Université Nice, France and Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. In Trinity College Dublin, his research focused on neuroinflammatory changes in ageing and neurodegenerative conditions and received a prestigious Irish Health Research Board Fellowship. He has presented his work internationally at numerous conferences and his work has been published in several high-impact journals. In 2012, Dr. Lyons was appointed Associate Professor of Biochemistry and Medical Genetics at St. Matthews University, Grand Cayman where he taught molecular biology, biochemistry and genetics to medical students.
