PNWU Hosts 36 Clubs at Annual Club Fair
On Tuesday, August 28, PNWU opened its doors to medical students, PA students, MAMS and pharm students for the annual Club Fair.
32 PNWU clubs and 4 WSU pharmacy clubs set up exciting visual displays and handed out gear and tasty treats during the one hour event, which featured our wide variety of clubs, ranging from Family medicine to Radiology, Association of Women’s Surgeons to Wilderness Medicine and many others.
“Our goal is to have something for everyone,” explained Preston DeHan, the Executive Vice President of the Student Government Association. “In the past, club involvement has remained largely restricted to PNWU students, but with the increase of interprofessional collaboration among health care professionals, we felt it was equally necessary to begin allowing other students into our clubs.”
“Our campus has a rich and diverse extracurricular culture,” said Dr. Stephen D. Laird, PNWU’s Associate Dean for Medical Student Affairs. “The SGA sponsored “Club Fair” is held every fall following the first major exams as an opportunity for all students to be exposed to these diverse extracurricular activities.”
“Clubs are an important part of PNWU,” DeHan added, “as they not only provide the opportunity for students to explore their interests, but they also allow students the chance to get involved in extra-curricular activities. Clubs serve as a unique avenue for establishing partnerships with community members and local organizations.”
