Postdoctoral Education (GME)
Pacific Northwest University's College of Osteopathic Medicine (PNWU-COM) actively identifies opportunities for development and expansion of graduate medical education (GME) throughout the Pacific Northwest. Under the new ACGME standards, PNWU serves as the academic sponsor for multiple residency programs in the Pacific Northwest. PNWU-COM works closely with these affiliated residencies to provide support and assure compliance with accreditation standards. PNWU-COM promotes learning and work environments that enhance delivery of patient care services and nurtures research and scholarly activity for faculty and residents. PNWU partners with other academic institutions in the region to collaboratively develop and support regional GME, including the Family Medicine Residency Network. PNWU/FMRN Collaboration
In 2015 Pacific Northwest University and the University of Washington Family Medicine Residency Network (FMRN) formed a collaborative to assist regional family medicine residencies with ACGME osteopathic recognition and support the AOA transitioning programs throughout the single accreditation process. FMRN is a network of 30 family medicine residencies spanning 5 states. The Network is one of the largest residency networks in the United States.
Osteopathic GME and faculty development workshops have been developed through this collaboration. Please visit the FMRN page for event information, times, dates and CME availability: Osteopathic GME Workshops.
Osteopathic Workshops
PNWU offers several Osteopathic workshops for residency faculty, program directors and residents. These workshops are presented at residency sites across the region in an effort to increase awareness and interest in Osteopathic medicine and help programs with osteopathic recognition.
